PHRM 31600 - Drug Abuse/Addiction Education
Credit Hours: 1.00. An overview of alcoholism and other chemical addictions. Students are given the information and experience necessary to present a five-hour drug abuse education program to the public and specifically middle school students. Course is taught by undergraduate pharmacy students with oversight by staff.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Describe the pharmacology involved with classes and specific substances of abuse. 2. Discuss aspects (i.e., social, genetic predisposition, intervention, treatment) associated with the disease of chemical addiction. 3. Describe the role of the Pharmacist Recovery Network (PRN). 4. Present a drug abuse/addition program (5 hours) to a class of sixth grade students.
