Understand and describe a wide range of meteorological phenomena using fundamental principles of physics and chemistry. 2. Identify the principal threat to the stratospheric ozone shield and the gases responsible for the greenhouse effect. 5. Understand the Coriolis effect and how it determines wind direction and circulation in cyclones and anticyclones in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. 6.
