Evening Exams Required. , PHYS 172 IMP will cover the same material as PHYS 172 but its format will be different. Instead of 2-50 minute lectures, 1-50 minute recitation and a 2-hour lab, we will have two 75 minute sessions per week in the new Active Learning Center (WALC), plus the same 2-hour lab but eliminating the traditional lectures and recitation). In this Scale-Up format (http://scaleup.ncsu.edu), brief lectures will be online. During the two 75 minute sessions, we will do intensive problem solving and (importantly) discussion/argumentation. The overarching goal of this course is for each student to achieve a deep understanding of the three fundamental principles that form the foundation for all of mechanics. Supplemental Instruction (SI) study sessions are available for students in this course. Evening Exams Required.
