Credit Hours: 3.00. Explores the communicative and structural aspects of traditional and non-traditional typography, its current and past practitioners, and its evolving role in society. Independent research and group projects will supplement lectures, assigned readings, and field trips. Permission of department required.

Provide opportunities to explore creative and ideation processes as they relate to typography and the letter form. 2. Engage students' conceptual skills through typographic expression and form. 3. Encourage students to experiment with typographic form outside of traditional views of typographic design. 4. Strengthen students' ability to create effective visual communications by way of complex problems emphasizing critical thinking, design process and presentation.
