Learning Outcomes: 1. Quantify racial and gender disparities in economic outcomes. 2. Recognize the differences and importance of disparities that control and do not control for observable factors. 3. Understand the difference between prejudice and discrimination, and the extent to which prejudice can cause discrimination. 4. Assess how discrimination can occur even in the absence of prejudice. 5. Evaluate the impact of policies designed to reduce disparities, such as affirmative action.

Prerequisites:
