Identify the major geographical features of the Russian homeland, the Baltics, Belarus, Ukraine, the Caucuses, Central Asia, the Volga-Urais, Siberia, and the Far East. 2. Trace and describe the main historical characteristics of Russian culture, social structure, and political life from the earliest origins under the Viking conquests to the emancipation of the serfs in 1861. 3. Analyze what the Russians both gave and took from the hundreds of Caucuses, Siberian, Central Asian, and European peoples, whom they gathered into the all-Russian state. 4. Understand the sources of Russia's triumphs and tragedies through the empire's consolidation of autocracy and serfdom. 5. Create a game-style simulation on the topic Russia's Circular Frontier and the Rise of Muscovy. |
