HORT 32200 - Greenhouse Crop Production
Credit Hours: 3.00. This course will offer students foundational information on the principles of planning, organizing, and managing greenhouse operations for bedding plant production. Students will learn about current cultural practices and challenges faced by the industry, as well as how environmental factors are monitored and controlled in production facilities. Hands-on activities will focus on integrated crop management practices for commercial greenhouse production. Case studies and discussions of relevant literature will help prepare students for positions in the green industry.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Demonstrate basic technical knowledge of the operations performed in a commercial greenhouse facility. 2. Explain methods of monitoring and manipulating environment factors (e.g., light temperature) and cultural practices (e.g., fertilizer composition and rate, container size, substrate type) to help maximize plant quality and minimize production costs. 3. Demonstrate skills required for bedding plant management in production. 4. Describe the various production technologies used by the greenhouse industry.

      College of Agriculture
May not be enrolled as the following Classifications:     
      Sophomore: 45 - 59 hours
