Explain the importance of the various physiological processes through which heredity and environment interact to influence tree growth. 2. Provide an overview of both the form and structure of trees. 3. Define patterns of vegetative growth for temperate-zone and tropical woody plants. 4. Describe the prominent features of the important physiological processes that affect plant growth and development, such as: photosynthesis; respiration; carbohydrate, nitrogen, and mineral nutrient relations; water absorption; transpiration; and plant hormones and other signaling molecules.
