ME 52500 - Combustion
Credit Hours: 3.00. Physical and chemical aspects of basic combustion phenomena. Chemical energetics and equilibrium. Basic chemical kinetics, chain reactions, and explosions. Chain and thermal ignition. Homogeneous combustion models. Detonations and deflagrations. Laminar flame speed and flame extinction. The Shvab-Zeldovich formulation of the multicomponent conservation equations. Diffusion flames and droplet combustion. Introduction to turbulent combustion.
