ENTM 64200 - Analysis Of Ecological Data
Credit Hours: 3.00. Intermediate course in analysis options for biological and ecological data. Topics include: univariate, multivariate, parametric and non-parametric analysis and their basis; advanced graphical techniques; basic mapping with and without geographical information systems; simulation modeling; associated coding for open source platforms. A previous graduate-level course in statistics is required. Working knowledge of ANOVA, t-tests, linear regression, and assumptions and distributions of test statistics for these is assumed.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Know data and analysis requirements when planning experiments and observational studies. 2. Apply several univariate and multivariate statistical analyses. 3. Model or simulate simple biological or ecological systems. 4. Use several different graphing techniques including mapping, three-dimensional plots, and animations. 5. Write code to accomplish 1-4 within open-source software. 6. Develop critical thinking skills. 7. Foster creativity by finding alternative solutions to analytical challenges. 8. Develop both the written and the technical side of communication skills.
