Learning Outcomes: 1. Understand sentence-length utterances which consist of recombinations of learned elements in a limited number of content areas, particularly if strongly supported by the situational context. 2. Make short statement and ask simple questions, primarily by relying on memorized utterances but occasionally by expanding these through simple recommendations of those elements. 3. Identify a limited number of character components and high-frequency characters in areas of immediate need. 4. Read for instructional and directional purposes, standardized messages, such as some prices in stores, time/date on schedules, etc. 5. Write simple fixed expressions and limited memorized material and some recombination thereof.
