LA 10600 - Accelerated Foundations Studio
Credit Hours: 6.00. Conceptualizing, recording, and presenting site design ideas through problem solving projects. Introduction to design and to presentation techniques fundamental to landscape architecture. Short projects give students exposure to a variety of design topics and presentation materials (pencil, ink, pastel, paper and board) and freehand lettering through two- and three-dimensional creative projects. Materials used are purchased by the student. Typically offered Summer.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Demonstrate/understand fundamental tools and processes of design: spatial organizations and relationships, analytical tools and ordering principles. 2. Demonstrate/understand basic critical thinking, and a foundation of literacy in design and environmental ideas. 3. Demonstrate/understand investigations and processes that lead to the formation of design concepts, and their realization as objects, plans and places. 4. Demonstrate/understand effective use of basic communication methods and the tools used in their making: diagrams, drawing, lettering, model making, speaking and writing. 5. Demonstrate/understand roles, contributions and responsibilities of Landscape Architecture to society and to environmental health. 6. Demonstrate/understand how to be a design student: time/task management, learning and functioning in a studio environment, working independently and as a team member.
