Credit Hours: 3.00. (CHM 582) Emphasis on chemical concepts that apply to the Earth's upper atmospheric regions and what may be learned from available measurements. An examination of the chemical composition and chemical processes of importance are covered. Topics include: stratospheric chemistry, chemistry in the mesosphere, chemistry in the thermosphere, the importance of positive and negative ion chemistry in the upper atmosphere, and the dynamics of transport of chemical species between the upper regions of the atmosphere.
