ME 50600 - Two-Phase Flow And Heat Transfer
Credit Hours: 3.00. Basic two-phase flow equations, homogeneous model, drift-flux model, flow regimes, pressure drop in two-phase flow. Nucleation and bubble dynamics, pool boiling, subcooled boiling, forced convection boiling, critical heat flux in pool boiling, critical heat flux in forced convection boiling, minimum heat flux, film boiling, post dryout heat transfer. Flow instabilities, choking in two-phase flow, film and dropwise condensation. Applications to heat exchangers. Special boiling and two-phase flow problems. Offered in alternate years. Typically offered Spring.
