Credit Hours: 3.00. A survey of the range of available instruments utilized in the intellectual and personality assessment of nontraditional populations (infants, retardates, individuals with sensory or motor handicaps). Tests will be looked at in terms of both their psychometric properties (reliability, validity) and in terms of their potential clinical utility (decision theory). There will be two critical aspects of the course: first, the issue of assessment strategies and the assessment process with the handicapped and, second, the nature of intellectual and emotional growth in handicapped and atypical populations. Prerequisite: PSY 50500. Permission of instructor required. Typically offered Spring.
