ENGL 36500 - Lit And Imperialism
Associated Term:
Learning Outcomes: 1.  Formulate significant critical questions about language, gender, sexuality, race, and/or ethnicity and how identity shapes our lives, experiences, institutions, and cultures, particularly in the context of imperialism/colonialism. 2.  Develop a foundational knowledge of the historical contexts of and theoretical approaches to literary texts: gain an introductory knowledge of postcolonial literary theory. 3.  Improve close reading and textual analysis skills. 4.  Improve critical thinking skills: improve formal writing skills: use textual evidence to support their views, effectively incorporating (and correctly citing) primary and scholarly secondary sources in their writing and class discussion.
