EAPS 53000 - Extreme Weather And Climate: Science And Risk
Associated Term: Fall 2018
Learning Outcomes: 1. Explain the meaning of "risk" (probability). 2. Evaluate how physics and data may be used to model risk. 3. Describe the essential physics of specific meteorological hazards (e.g. tropical cyclones). 4. Apply probability theory to develop probability models. 5. Integrate simple physical principles into a probability model. 6. Exploit R coding environment to analyze data and model probability. 7. Devise a novel research topic, hypothesis, and methodology for its analysis. 8. Analyze and critique journal articles. 9. Summarize primary research results in a succinct technical report. 10. Summarize primary research results in a succinct and compelling oral presentation.
