EAPS 51000 - Climate Time Series Analysis
Associated Term: Fall 2018
Learning Outcomes: 1. Understand concepts and methods of classical time series analysis. 2. Get hands on experience in resampling methods for time series analysis, which work for complex data sets without having to rely on strong assumptions common in classical time series analysis but rarely met in geosciences. 3. Learn how to match a time series methods to a particular geosciences data set or question. 4. Develop skills in writing programs in R to analyze geosciences data and interpret results. 5. Learn basics of advanced topics instrumental in geosciences: long memory, extremes, nonlinear time series, chaos and complexity. 6. Improve their critical thinking and oral communication skills via giving presentations on their research projects involving topics covered in the course.
