STAT 42100 - Modern Statistical Modeling Using R And SAS
Associated Term: Fall 2015
Learning Outcomes: 1. Understand how SAS data step processes observations, be able to use SAS and R to read and write data, to preform descriptive analyses, to graphically display data distributions, to preform simple statistical analysis such as chi-square test, ANOVA, and regression. 2. Ability to program in SAS data step, write simple SAS macros, do matrix calculations in proc iml, and to write user-defined modules in SAS. 3. Ability to program in R and write user-defined R functions. 4. Solve non-linear equations using numerical methods such as bisection, newton's method, secant method and fixed point iteration, to optimize uni-variable and multi-variable functions using user-defined and build-in R functions, to use numerical method to find MLE, to simulate random variables, and to implement bootstrap method.
