CHM 67605 - Molecular Spectroscopy |
---|
Associated Term:
Fall 2015
Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will possess a firm working knowledge of the interactions of light with molecules and be able to explain molecular spectroscopy concepts to other scientists. 2. Students will be able to analyze molecular rotational, vibrational, and electronic spectra, extracting information about the shapes, bond distances, vibrational motions/frequencies, and electronic excited states from the spectra. 3. Students will be able to read and understand key aspects of the current literature in molecular spectroscopy, including advanced, laser-based methods. 4. Students will be able to use group theory to identify the point group of a molecule and assign molecular rotational, vibrational, and electronic states to symmetry species.
