Learning Outcomes: 1. Enable students to understand the importance of reliability during the design of engineered products. 2. Learn common probability distributions and fit probability distributions to experimentally obtained failure data. 3. Learn to describe and manipulate expectation and variance of continuous functions. 4. Understand principles of probabilistic design of engineered products. 5. Carryout reliability simulations of complex systems using Monte Carlo and first order reliability methods. 6. Understand important failure concerns in mechanical and electronic systems.
